Day of Surgery

Surgical Procedure
  • Your surgeon or gastroenterologist will tell you what time to arrive at the center.
  • Our center opens at 6am and closes at 6pm.
  • Patients who are minors must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian who will be required to sign the operative permit.

After Surgery

  • You will be moved to our post anesthesia care unit where you will undergo close observation. Your doctor will wish to talk with a family member/friend after your procedure, therefore it is important for this person to remain in the building.
  • Your physician will provide post-operative instructions and the center will provide a written summary of these instructions prior to your discharge.
  • You will need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you the first 24 hours after your procedure.
  • The following activities need to be postponed following the first 24 hours after your procedure:
    • Driving, operating equipment.
    • Signing important papers.
    • Making important decisions.
    • Drinking alcoholic beverages or smoking.
